Grano is polished durum wheat that has a beautiful golden appearance. It has a toasty wheaty flavour and a chewy texture similar to cooked barley. I would forgo the heavy sauces and enjoy drizzled with olive oil and parmasan cheese. Grano is an ancient grain from southern Italy that is very nutritious, high in protein and fibre. It is delicious in grain or seafood salad. Grano is used to make Pastiera, a traditional Sicilian ricotta pie served at Easter.
